Announcement No. 2032 of the Ministry of Agriculture

In order to guarantee agricultural production safety, agricultural product quality and safety and eco-environmental security and safeguard people’s life safety and health, the National Pesticide Registration Review Committee has decided after deliberation to take further administrative measures on banning and limiting the use of 7 pesticides, including chlorsulfuron, tribenuron-methyl, metsulfuron-methyl, asomate, urbacid, chlorpyrifos and triazophos in accordance with related provisions of Regulations on Pesticide Administration. Related matters are hereby announced as follows.

I. As of December 31, 2013, registration certificate for chlorsulfuron (including technical material, formulation with single and mixed ai, the same below) has been revoked. As of December 31, 2015, the sales and application of chlorsulfuron will be banned in China.

II. Formulated tribenuron-methyl products with single active ingredient have been deregistered as of December 31, 2013, and the sales and application of formulated tribenuron-methyl products with single active ingredient will be banned in China from December 31, 2015. The technical material and mixed formulation with tribenuron-methyl have been deregistered as of July 1, 2015, and the sales and application of the technical material and mixed formulation with tribenuron-methyl will be banned in China from July 1, 2017.

III. Formulated products of metsulfuron-methyl with single active ingredient have been deregistered as of December 31, 2013, and the sales and application of formulated products of metsulfuron-methyl with single active ingredient will be banned in China from December 31, 2015. The technical material and metsulfuron-methyl have been deregistered as of July 1, 2015, and the sales and application of metsulfuron-methyl will be banned in China from July 1, 2017 while the registration of metsulfuron-methyl for application overseas will be reserved. Enterprises may apply for changing existing registration to the registration for export and overseas application from July 1, 2015.

IV. From the date of issuance of the announcement, the application will be suspended for the registration of asomate and urbacid, and the approval will be suspended for new certificate for registration of asomate and urbacid. The certificate for registration of asomate and urbacid has been revoked as of December 31, 2013, and the sales and application of asomate and urbacid will be banned in China from December 31, 2015.

V. From the date of issuance of the announcement, the application will be suspended for the registration of chlorpyrifos and triazophos on vegetables, and the approval will be suspended for new certificate for registration of chlorpyrifos and triazophos on vegetables. Chlorpyrifos and triazophos on vegetables have been deregistered as of December 31, 2014, and the use of chlorpyrifos and triazophos on vegetables will be banned from December 31, 2016.
