According to an estimation of Chinese Ministry of Agriculture, the use efficiency of fertilizer for China’s 3 staple food grains – rice, corn and wheat in 2015, is 35.2%, 2.2% up over 2013; urea use is reduced by 1 million tons, where farmers have managed to cut down their spending on production by Yuan 1.8 billion. The use efficiency of pesticide is 36.6%, 1.6% up over 2013; pesticide use is reduced by 15,200 tons, where farmers have managed to cut down their spending on production by Yuan 800million.

The above figures demonstrate certain degree of achievement of the 1-year long fertilizer/pesticide-use zero-growth campaign. The rise of use efficiency of fertilizer/pesticide helps to reduce pesticide residues; safeguard the quality and safety of farm product, as well as to alleviate the environmental impact on soil and water.

Chinese Ministry of Agriculture expresses that coming up next China will rapidly promote the water-fertilizer integrated environmental control approach, meanwhile to develop high-efficient, low-toxic and low residue biological product to speed up the promoted use of environment-friendly product as well as pesticide application appliances.
